Mounjaro Dosage Guide

The complete UK titration schedule for tirzepatide, from starting dose to maintenance.

Titration Schedule

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) follows a gradual dose escalation schedule designed to minimise gastrointestinal side effects. Your prescriber will guide you through each step, but the standard titration is as follows:

PeriodDosePurpose
Weeks 1–42.5mgStarting dose — NOT a therapeutic dose. Allows your body to adjust.
Weeks 5–85mgFirst therapeutic dose. Most patients begin to notice appetite suppression.
Weeks 9–127.5mgContinued titration. Side effects often settle at this stage.
Weeks 13–1610mgIncreased efficacy. Significant weight loss typically evident.
Weeks 17–2012.5mgHigher dose option. Not all patients need to progress beyond 10mg.
Week 21+15mgMaximum dose. Used when lower doses provide insufficient response.

How to Inject Mounjaro

Mounjaro is administered once weekly using a pre-filled KwikPen. The injection is subcutaneous (just under the skin) and can be given in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate your injection site each week to reduce the risk of injection-site reactions.

Inject on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. If you miss a dose and there are at least 3 days (72 hours) before your next scheduled dose, take it as soon as you remember. If fewer than 3 days remain, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.

Important

Never increase your dose without consulting your prescriber. Do not take two doses within 3 days of each other. If you experience persistent or severe side effects at any dose level, contact your prescriber before continuing.

Storage

Store unused Mounjaro pens in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze. Once in use, the pen can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 21 days. Protect from direct light and heat.
