Switching Weight Loss Medication Providers
How to change providers safely, what to tell your new prescriber, and how to avoid gaps in treatment.
When to Consider Switching
You are not locked into any provider. Common reasons for switching include:
You have found a provider with a lower price for your current dose
Your current provider has stock issues or long delivery times
You want better clinical support or follow-up care
You are unhappy with the consultation process or customer service
Your provider has stopped offering your medication
How to Switch in 5 Steps
Check Your Current Supply
Make sure you have enough medication to cover the transition period. Most providers ship within 1–3 working days, but it is wise to start the switch before you run out.
Complete a New Consultation
Your new provider will require a fresh medical consultation. Be prepared to share your current dose, how long you have been taking the medication, and any side effects.
Share Your Dose History
Tell your new provider exactly what dose you are on. They will not start you from the beginning if you are already established on a maintenance dose — this is a common concern.
Arrange Delivery Timing
Coordinate so your new medication arrives before your current supply runs out. Gaps in treatment can cause weight regain and require re-titration in some cases.
Cancel Any Subscriptions
If your current provider operates a subscription model, make sure to cancel before the next billing cycle to avoid being charged for both providers.
Important
Never stop taking your medication abruptly without medical advice. If you experience a gap in supply, contact your GP or call NHS 111 for guidance.
