Saxenda Dosage Guide

The UK titration schedule for liraglutide daily injections.

Key Difference: Daily Injection

Unlike Mounjaro and Wegovy (both weekly injections), Saxenda (liraglutide) is injected once daily. This means a higher frequency of injections but allows for more granular dose adjustments.

Titration Schedule

PeriodDaily DosePurpose
Week 10.6mgStarting dose. Not therapeutic — allows GI adjustment.
Week 21.2mgFirst increase. Appetite effects begin.
Week 31.8mgContinued escalation.
Week 42.4mgNear-maintenance dose.
Week 5+3.0mgFull maintenance dose. Continue daily.

How to Inject Saxenda

Saxenda uses a multi-dose pre-filled pen that delivers multiple daily injections from a single pen. Inject subcutaneously into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. The same pen is used for multiple doses by adjusting the dial.

Inject at the same time each day, with or without food. If you miss a dose by less than 12 hours, take it as soon as you remember. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and continue with your next scheduled dose.

Important

If you cannot tolerate the 3.0mg dose, your prescriber may consider maintaining you at 2.4mg. NICE requires at least 5% weight loss after 12 weeks at the full dose for treatment to continue.

Storage

Store unused pens in the refrigerator (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze. Once in use, store at room temperature (below 30°C) or in the refrigerator for up to 30 days. Always replace the pen cap after use.
