Titration Schedule
Wegovy (semaglutide) uses a 16-week dose escalation before reaching the maintenance dose of 2.4mg. This gradual increase is essential for minimising gastrointestinal side effects.
| Period | Weekly Dose | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1–4 | 0.25mg | Starting dose. Allows body to adjust. Not a therapeutic dose. |
| Weeks 5–8 | 0.5mg | First increase. Appetite reduction begins for many patients. |
| Weeks 9–12 | 1mg | Therapeutic effects become more noticeable. |
| Weeks 13–16 | 1.7mg | Near-maintenance dose. Most GI side effects settling. |
| Week 17+ | 2.4mg | Full maintenance dose. Continue indefinitely as prescribed. |
How to Inject Wegovy
Wegovy is injected once weekly using a pre-filled FlexTouch pen. Inject subcutaneously into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate your injection site each week. Administer on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food.
If you miss a dose and there are 2 or more days until your next scheduled dose, take it as soon as you remember. If fewer than 2 days remain, skip the missed dose. If more than 2 weeks are missed, contact your prescriber — you may need to restart at a lower dose.
Supply Note
Wegovy has experienced intermittent supply constraints globally due to high demand. Some dose strengths may have limited availability from certain providers. Check current stock status on our Compare Providers page.
Storage
Store unused Wegovy pens in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze. Once in use, the pen can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 28 days. Keep the cap on when not in use.
